Nurse Practitioner Celeste Williams is featured speaker at Young Democrats Fall Conference

Fayetteville, AR - The Young Democrats of Arkansas gathered at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville for their Fall Conference, a time of learning and fellowship. Third Congressional Candidate Celeste Williams was a featured speaker.

“As a Nurse Practitioner, I spend everyday doing all that is in my power to reduce the suffering of the person in front of me. I know the time is now to step up and do more.” Williams said. “I’m running for Congress to do everything in my power to reduce the suffering of not just the patient in front of me, but the hundreds of thousands of people in District 3 who deserve quality, affordable healthcare, educational opportunities, and a living wage. We will lose the American dream if we do not make big changes right now.”

Williams would make tackling the high cost of prescription drugs her first priority. “We should be using the buying power of federal health programs like Medicare to negotiate lower prescription drug prices for everyone,” Williams said. She also supports capping out-of-pocket prescription drug costs.

The Conference was attended by Young Democrat chapters from across the state. One student, Rosana Hicks, from Fayetteville High School said of her experience this weekend, “It’s so amazing to see all the young faces of Arkansas come together for something we all believe in.” Students heard from speakers like Rep. Denise Garner and Rep. Megan Godfrey, participated in campaign trainings, and held chapter elections and caucus meetings.
